The SOA membership year runs from Jan 1-Dec 31 for all members, so renewals are due for 2012. You can find renewal/payment information on the membership page of the SOA website. We look to find more cool stuff for members in addition to the awesome experience of seeing so many Scramblers in one place at the National. This year's giveaway of a Miller welder was a huge success, look for more coming in 2012. |

The Scrambler Owners Association is pleased to announce that the 8th Annual National Scramble will be held July 25-27, 2011 in beautiful Ouray, Colorado. Check in and registration will occur on the evening of the 24th.
A few things we should mention at this time: There is a great deal of planning to be done before the event. As the person to nominate Ouray for consideration by the board, Ken Adams has once again volunteered to take the lead as Event Committee Chairman and he needs the help of a dedicated group of volunteers to make this the best National ever.
You do not have to be attending to be able to help plan, we've had generous individuals volunteer for the committee without attending in the past. Anyone interested in contributing their help, please respond in this thread.
Returning to a great tradition, the SOA will hold a raffle at the event (for attendees only) but with a little twist. All proceeds from this raffle will go to two charities. The SOA board wants to get our members' input on where to donate the money. Nominations for charities to be considered can be contributed in this thread with final selection to be the board's decision based on nominations posted.
So mark you calendars, put in for that vacation time at work, start tuning the old carb for some high altitude Scramblin' fun, and we'll see y'all in Ouray! |

That countdown timer on the left side of the page is about to stop being approximate.
The nominations are closed for the location for the 2011 National Scramble location and the board is working to finalize the decision on the location and date. We will be making an announcement shortly and look forward to another awesome event.
Scramble on!

Jason and George were unopposed in their respective positions for reelection, so Jason will serve another term as vice president and George will continue as Treasurer. The board is excited for the recent progress with the new site and forums and looks to continue with Jason and George.

There is a thread on the new SOA forums on www.cj-8.com for posting nominations for the 2011 National Scramble location and for commenting on the nominations.
New this year is a requirement that, by making a location
nomination, you are volunteering to lead the event committee should that
location be selected by the board. Any member is welcome to comment on
the locations that are nominated, but to suggest a new location you are
volunteering for the committee. The board will follow up with anyone
suggesting a new location to ensure that this is the case as nominations
are made.
The 2011 event is to be held in the western US, per the established
rotation of the National location. See the thread for more details and
the nominations made to date: http://www.cj-8.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27150 |

Due to the grievance committee review of issues from last year's
presidential election and the fact that the board had to handle all
planning for this year's National Event, we are overdue for this year's
election for the Vice President and Treasurer positions. The board is
now opening nominations for these two positions. Nominations will close
on 10/27/10 and a vote will take
place 11/6/10 for positions with more than one nominated candidate.
Elected officers are expected to take the position immediately after
announcement of voting results, starting with the November board
meeting. Note that the SOA holds elections in July to maximize
the amount of time that new officers have prior to having to carry out
the next National event, so as to minimize any disruption in planning.
Therefore, these two positions will be up for vote again in July of 2012
to get back onto the normal election schedule.

In an effort to get more input and involvement from the membership, the SOA board has started a new forum on the SOA forums now hosted on CJ-8.com specifically to list topics on which the board requests member input and comment. Members, please check out the new forum and give us your thoughts on the topics the board will be taking on in upcoming meetings. Here's a link to the new forum |
